Twitter Reacts to England’s win over Lithuania

Last night England carried on their 100% record in qualifying for the 2016 European Championships with a 4-0 win over Lithuania at Wembley. Wayne Rooney gave England an early lead with a header following Danny Welbeck’s parried shot, and his former Manchester United teammate made it 2-0 just before half-time with a deflected header.

Raheem Sterling was then rewarded for a good performance by grabbing his first England goal just before half-time, before Roy Hodgson brought on in-form Harry Kane. 80 seconds later and it was 4-0, and the goal was scored by you guessed it, Kane, who nodded in Sterling’s cross at the far post.

How did Twitter react to the win? Let me warn you though, it’s mostly about a certain Tottenham striker. Quite right too…

The Three Lions got off to a good start thanks to the skipper, who is getting closer to Bobby Charlton’s record…

I mentioned in The Big Match Preview last week that Jordan Henderson is shaping up to be Gerrard’s replacement for club and country.

Danny Welbeck’s goal brought a surprising stat…

But whether the goal he ‘scored’ last night was actually his is debatable.

Raheem Sterling got England’s third and his first international. Not that anyone really noticed…

Then the moment. KANE.

Poor old David Nugent.

An old cliché put to bed?

I’ll finish with Harry Kane. There was no way I wasn’t going to.
