Premier League Predictions Week 3 vs Felipe Alviar-Baquero

It’s Premier League predictions time again, and before we move onto this week’s very special guest, let’s take a look back at last week’s edition, when I took on Tom Malley. Both Tom and I predicted four correct results and one correct score, making week two a 6-6 draw. Thanks to Tom for taking part, and he may well make another appearance on the blog later on in the season to try and beat his first score!

  1. Tom Malley – 6
  2. Olly (average) – 5
  3. Benjamin Wills – 3
  • Olly’s Total = 10
  • Guests’ Total = 9

So, I’m delighted, surprised and honoured to announce that this week’s guest challenger is lawyer Felipe Alviar-Baquero, who appeared on the last series of the BBC’s The Apprentice and made it all the way to week nine before being fired for buying a flat-pack skeleton instead of a ready built one, causing outrage amongst viewers in an incident nicknamed #skeletongate. I was one of those outraged viewers as I had formed warmed to Felipe over the course of the series, from speaking about himself in the third person to shedding tears of joy as he saw his advert displayed in New York’s Times Square. I could go on and on, but you probably wouldn’t want to hear it!

Felipe is an Arsenal fan and was once an advisor at the club, which obviously did not go down well with Tottenham fan Lord Sugar! In 2012, he was named as one of the top 100 Columbians by the nation’s government alongside the likes of Shakira and Radamel Falcao. I was thrilled and shocked when he accepted my invitation to come on my blog. Here are his and my predictions for the upcoming rounds of Premier League games.

Manchester United vs Newcastle United – Saturday 12:45pm

  • Olly’s Prediction: 2-1
  • Felipe’s Prediction: 1-1
  • Final Score: 0-0

Newcastle have lost 25 Premier League games against Manchester United, more than they have against any other side. Steve McClaren used to be assistant manager at Old Trafford.

Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa – Saturday 3pm

  • Olly’s Prediction: 1-0
  • Felipe’s Prediction: 2-0
  • Final Score: 2-1

Alan Pardew can earn a record 12th Premier League victory by a Crystal Palace manager. He has only been in charge for 20 games.

Leicester City vs Tottenham Hotspur – Saturday 3pm

  • Olly’s Prediction: 1-2
  • Felipe’s Prediction: 1-2
  • Final Score: 1-1

These sides met three times last season. Tottenham won both league games, while Leicester were victorious in an FA Cup fourth-round tie.

Norwich City vs Stoke City – Saturday 3pm

  • Olly’s Prediction: 1-1
  • Felipe’s Prediction: 0-0
  • Final Score: 1-1

Newly promoted Norwich have not started a Premier League season with more than one win in August since 1993-94, when they won three times.

Sunderland vs Swansea City – Saturday 3pm

  • Olly’s Prediction: 0-2
  • Felipe’s Prediction: 2-2
  • Final Score: 1-1

Dick Advocaat called a crisis meeting last Sunday morning, with Sunderland being just one of two teams to lose both of their opening Premier League games this season.

West Ham vs Bournemouth – Saturday 3pm

  • Olly’s Prediction: 2-1
  • Felipe’s Prediction: 2-0

West Ham goalkeeper Darren Randolph is in line to make his Premier League debut for the club. He conceded 12 goals in two games against Bournemouth in the Championship last season whilst playing for Birmingham City.

West Bromwich Albion vs Chelsea – Sunday 1:30pm

  • Olly’s Prediction: 1-3
  • Felipe’s Prediction: 0-3
  • Final Score: 2-3

This game will be Jose Mourinho’s 300th in charge of Chelsea. The Blues have only lost back-to-back Premier League games under him once – in May 2006 when they had already won the title.

Everton vs Manchester City – Sunday 4pm

  • Olly’s Prediction: 1-2
  • Felipe’s Prediction: 1-1
  • Final Score: 0-2

Manchester City have won eight Premier League games in a row, equalling their run that ended in February 2014 against Chelsea. They haven’t won nine top-flight league games in succession since September 1912.

Watford vs Southampton – Sunday 4pm

  • Olly’s Prediction: 1-1
  • Felipe’s Prediction: 1-2

Watford and Southampton have met just twice before in the Premier League, in the 1999-2000 season. The Hornets lost 2-0 away but won 3-2 at Vicarage Road.

Arsenal vs Liverpool – Monday 8pm

  • Olly’s Prediction: 2-1
  • Felipe’s Prediction: 2-1
  • Final Score: 0-0

Olivier Giroud is in line to make his 100th Premier League appearance. Only Thierry Henry, Ian Wright and Emmanuel Adebayor scored more in their first century of league appearances for the club.

I’ll share the results on Twitter after the weekend’s fixtures and also include them in next week’s Premier League predictions. If you want to take part or share your predictions, just leave a comment below!
