I finally ended my losing run in Premier League Predictions in midweek, drawing 5-5 with my fellow Tilehurst End editor Simeon Pickup. We both got no correct scores, but guessed the result correctly in half of the fixtures. It leaves the leaderboard looking like this, with mid-table getting a bit cramped…

  1. Mitch Clarke, Paul Merson – 7
  2. Tom Malley, Kieran Rawnsley, Dan Moran, Josh Pound, Kallum Mehta, Phil Beresford – 6
  3. Olly (average) – 5.33
  4. Felipe Alviar-Baquero, Laith Amiry, Harry Blacknell, Oscar Hayes, Jack Beresford, Jake Moore, William Troost-Ekong, Simeon Pickup – 5
  5. My Dad, Josh Nicholson, Mark Lawrenson, FIFA 16 – 4
  6. Benjamin Wills, Jason Roberts – 3
  7. Kyle Goldsmith, Thomas Fletcher – 2
  • Olly’s Total = 128
  • Guests’ Total = 116

This week I am taking on a non-human for the second time this season. In Gameweek 17, I lost 4-2 to FIFA 16, and now I am taking on the Sports Analytics Machine, or SAM for short. SAM is a super-computer created by Professor Ian McHale at the University of Salford that is used to predict the outcome of football matches. It also currently predicts the result for all the Premier League games on the BBC Sport website. But can it beat me? Probably, so let’s find out our predicted scores…

Manchester City vs Leicester City – Saturday 12:45pm

  • Olly’s Prediction: 1-1
  • SAM’s Prediction: 1-1
